Special Instructions

FastingTest

If your physician tells you to "fast" before your test(s), this means that you should not have anything to eat or drink for a minimum of eight hours before the specimen is drawn. This means no juice, toast or coffee. You are able to have water while you are fasting. Consult with your physician about taking or withholding regular medications.

Glucose Tolerance Testing (GTT)

If you are having a GTT for diabetes screening or during pregnancy, this test will take from two to six hours to complete depending upon what your physician has ordered. Patients will not be able to leave the facility during the test process.

Fertility Studies

If you are having a Semen Analysis for fertility studies, please contact the Laboratory at 352.795.8338 before your visit for complete instructions. Time and temperature are very important for this type of test.

Rapid Access to Results

Through our online WebPAS, your physician can access virtually all of your test results performed by the Seven Rivers Regional Laboratory regardless of whether you were an inpatient, emergency room patient or outpatient.

Same Day Reporting for Routine Test Orders

Results for chemistry profiles, blood counts and other routine testing will be provided on a same day basis for specimens collected in the morning and by the next morning for specimens collected in the afternoon. Reports will be provided by WebPAS, automated fax or rapid courier delivery-the choice is your physicians.

Specimen Transport

Seven Rivers Outpatient Laboratory has dedicated couriers to provide prompt courier services to meet your physician's practice needs. Specimen pickup times are arranged to coordinate with your physician's office hours and test result requirements. Stat and evening pickup is also available.

Some insurance companies do not cover certain elective surgeries. Insurance plans may require a prepayment and/or second medical opinion. You should check with your insurance company to make sure you satisfy any pre-certification requirements.
