Volunteers Earn President's Volunteer Service Award

Apr 03, 2007

Seven Rivers Regional is proud to announce that eight members of the Seven Rivers Regional Volunteer Service League recently earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Shortly after his inauguration, President George W. Bush called upon all Americans to dedicate at least 4,000 hours over the course of their lives to serve others at home or abroad.  Liz Stacklin, Inglis; Pam Hoover, Inglis; Bob Neville, Beverly Hills; Alice Gaunt, Homosassa; Ethel MacDonald, Crystal River; Ann Galley, Beverly Hills; Jean Kelly, Beverly Hills; Vivian Thomas, Crystal River; have all answered this call to service and have completed 4,000 (or more) volunteer hours at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center.

Joyce Brancato, CEO of SRRMC is grateful for the many volunteers who dedicate their time and talent to the hospital’s league of volunteers and extends her sincere congratulations to the recipients of the President’s Award.

Each of the honored volunteers received two special letters in recognition of their achievement. The first, from President Bush, stated that through service to others volunteers demonstrate the outstanding character of and help strengthen our country. The second letter, from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, emphasized that the everyday acts of kindness and decency extended by volunteers make our country a better place.

“Volunteers serve an important role in a hospital setting, and we are proud to have such a dedicated team serving our facility,” said Brancato. “A letter from the President of the United States and his Council is a wonderful way to pay tribute to a volunteer who bestows 4,000 hours of selfless contributions to the benefit of patients and families who come to SRRMC for care.  I hope that each one of our celebrated volunteers will cherish and display their awards with pride.
