The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) once again acknowledged the outstanding respiratory care patients receive at and named SRRMC a Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) hospital for 2007. Al Barcena, manager of respiratory services at SRRMC is very proud of his team’s continued success, and attributes it to the strict safety and quality standards maintained by SRRMC’s qualified respiratory therapists.
The QRCR program was started by the AARC in 2003 to help consumers identify those facilities using qualified respiratory therapists to provide respiratory care. Hospitals earning the QRCR designation provide a level of respiratory care consistent with national standards and guidelines. Seven Rivers Regional first learned about, applied for and received the award the QRCR award in 2006.
Earning QRCR designation is an honorable accomplishment, as only about 500 hospitals or approximately 10 percent of hospitals in the U.S. have been named Quality Respiratory Care institutions, according to Sherry Milligan, associate executive director at ARRC. “The citizens in your community are lucky to have a facility such as Seven Rivers Regional, in which they can be assured of receiving the highest standards of respiratory care,” said Milligan.
Respiratory therapists are important, vital members of the healthcare team at Seven Rivers Regional. They provide life-supporting, life-enhancing health care to patients and promote optimal cardiopulmonary function and health by using scientific principles to identify and treat acute or chronic dysfunction of the cardiopulmonary system.
