The Procedures
Bone Densitometry | Cardiac/Vascular Studies | 64-Slice CT Scanning | Diagnostic Radiology Interventional Radiology | MRI/MRA | Mammography | Nuclear Medicine | Ultrasound
Bone Densitometry (Dual energy absorptiometry (DEXA))
To accurately detect osteoporosis, Seven Rivers Regional performs this enhanced form of x-ray technology using the Hologic Discovery QDR Series Bone Densitometer. The quick and painless test measures bone mineral density and can also be used to asses risk for fractures. If bone density is found to be low, your physician can work with you to devise a treatment plan to potentially slow bone loss and help prevent fractures before they occur. Ask your physician if bone densitometry may be of help to your health.

Cardiac/Vascular Studies
64-Slice Computed Tomography (CT) Scanning
Seven Rivers Regional offers advanced 64-slice CT scanning with the Toshiba Aquilion 64 CFX.
General X-Ray
Imaging Services features three general x-ray suites of which two provide fluoroscopy.
Interventional Radiology
Imaging Services provides for an array of minimally invasive, image guided procedures (e.g., arthrograms, myelograms, emobilizations). Interventional radiology procedures typically have less risk, less pain and less recovery and are used to treat diseases nonsurgically through the blood vessels or through the skin.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) / Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA)
An MRI uses magnetic waves to evaluate any part of the body. The unit at Seven Rivers Regional is a Philips Gyroscan Intera 1.5T (T=tesla) unit--featuring the ability to reconstruct up to 860 images per second, reduce acoustic noise, apply real-time interactive imaging capabilities and provide fast, high quality, whole body imaging. Not all MRI units are the same, so it is important for patients and referring physicians to understand that magnet strength is a major consideration when choosing a facility for MRI services. In addition to MRI studies, MRA studies can be performed on blood vessels using MRI technology.
Mammography
Seven Rivers Regional offers a complete range of breast imaging services, as well as other complementary breast evaluation and surgical procedures. These include digital mammography, breast ultrasound, breast biopsy, fine needle biopsy, stereotactic breast biopsy (using the Mammotome Breast Biopsy System), sentinel lymph node biopsy and breast surgery (e.g., lumpectomy, mastectomy, breast reduction, breast reconstruction).
Our private mammography suite allows patients to relax in a discreet environment while waiting for their exam. The Hologic Selenia Full Field Digital Mammography unit is the only one of its kind in the area and provides high resolution, digital images with up to 33 percent greater visibility (see Media Release). You can be assured that you will receive exceptional attention from our highly trained and professional staff of board certified radiologists, pathologists, surgeons, oncologists, nurses, state-licensed, registered mammographers and sonographers. All are committed to providing you with an accurate and rapid diagnosis.
If you have had a mammogram at another facility, be sure to bring your films with you to Seven Rivers Regional. this will allow our radiologists to compare your mammogram done here with your previous mammogram(s).
Digital mammography is available at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center (352.795.8394) and analog mammography is available at Dunnellon Diagnostic Center (352.795.7211). Each location is accredited by the American College of Radiology. Note: Screening mammograms may be self referred (if you have a local primary physician).

Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear medicine at Seven Rivers Regional utilizes a Seimens E.CAM dual-heal SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) camera. The E.CAM promises high quality imaging, shortened testing time and increased comfort. Nuclear medicine technology documents the function and structure of virtually every major organ system in the body and the dual-head capability is especially helpful for cardiac and total body bone scans. Some of the nuclear medicine diagnostic studies include:
Ultrasound
Imaging Services boasts advanced Philips iE33 intelligent and ACUSON Aspen echocardiography systems with 2D and 3D digital technology. These systems provide significantly improved image quality among other features that allow for a faster, correct diagnosis (and possibly without the need for additional testing). Ultrasound procedures include:
Registration
In most instances, your physician's office staff will schedule your imaging procedure and provide you with a physician's order. Please be sure to bring your Diagnostic Services Prescription (physician's order) with you on the day of the procedure--it allows us to perform the test. To be fully prepared and to ensure your procedure goes as smoothly as possible, follow the preparation instructions provided by your physician or those found on the back of the Diagnostic Services Prescription for your specific procedure.
When you come to the hospital, go first to the Admitting area that is located just inside the front double doors. In addition to your physician's orders (with diagnosis), bring a photo identification, list of allergies, list of medications (with dosages, including over-the-counter medications) and insurance information. Please arrive 1/2 hour prior to your scheduled appointment time to accommodate the registration process.
Film Requests
You may pick up your films Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.. All film pickup requests should be called in, preferably 24 hours in advance, to 352.795.8325. Patients should indicate their name, date of birth and the type of films that they are requesting for pick up as well as the pick up date required. For patients who do not call ahead to request a film pickup, there may be a delay in processing your request.
Sign-Out Policy for Patient Pickup
After you have requested a film pickup, simply come to the reception area in Radiology. Please have photo identification available to present to the receptionist. You will be asked to sign a release authorization prior to receiving your requested films. The Radiology film sign-out policy is strictly followed due to designated HIPAA regulations.
Sign-Out Policy for Designee Pickup
Patients who are not able to pick up films in person and choose to send in a designee should be advised that the designee is required to have written authorization by the patient in order to pick up the films. Simply put, patients who are unable to pick up their own films need to state on a piece of paper the name of the designee and that they are authorized to pick up films. The patient should sign this piece of paper and instruct the designee to bring it to the hospital and provide it to the Radiology receptionist. The designee will also be required to show photo identification and sign the release authorization in order to sign out films. The Radiology film sign-out policy is strictly followed due to designated HIPAA regulations.
Return Policy
Please keep in mind that all films that are signed out are originals, and need to be returned by the patient within 30 days of their sign out.
Billing & Insurance
You will receive separate bills from the hospital, radiologist and any other medical specialist who provided your treatment. If you have any questions, please call 352.795.8318.
Some insurance companies do not cover certain elective procedures. Insurance plans may require a prepayment and/or second medical opinion. You should check with your insurance company to make sure you satisfy any pre-certification requirements.
