Emergency Services (quickER)

Find the ED | Your Comments | Billing & Insurance | Helpful Info for Families

Some of the area's most experienced physicians and nurses provide emergency care to our community 24 hours a day, seven days a week at Seven Rivers Regional's quickER. All of our physicians and nurses have been specially trained to provide skilled, professional care in an emergency setting. In addition, our nurses are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Nurse Care Curriculum and chemical/biological/radiological decontamination.

Our emergency department has two distinct areas of treatment -- one for your minor emergencies and the other for your major health care emergencies. A dedicated area for minor injuries and illnesses is staffed by a nurse practitioner and registered nurses. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. Specialty rooms throughout the emergency department are available for cardiac emergencies, trauma, orthopedics, pediatrics, gynecological and decontamination.

All patient rooms/bays have bedside electronic charting and a television for patient convenience.

Upon your arrival in the emergency department, patients are asked to sign-in. Within a very short while, you will be asked to visit with a registered nurse -- this is what we call Nurse First. Nurse First is our commitment to patients that the first person they’ll see in our emergency department is a nurse who will assess the nature of the emergency and determine its severity. During Nurse First, the reason for your visit is ascertained, your medical history is reviewed (e.g., past illnesses, injuries, surgeries), vital signs are taken and initial tests may be ordered. It is always helpful to the nurse if you are able to provide information about prescriptions and allergies, as well.

Nurse First, our Pro-MED patient tracking system and our health care team allow quickER to bring you a patient length of stay from arrival to discharge home well below the national average.

Family members are permitted to visit patients whenever possible. Due to special circumstances, family members may be asked to remain in the waiting area and there may be a limit on the number of visitors. Our staff will make every effort to keep family members and friends informed of their patient's condition and treatment.
